SMART Boards
Today's classrooms require a flexible set of tools to inspire extraordinary learning experiences and improve student learning outcomes. St. Boniface offers SMART Boards, interactive whiteboards, to all students. We currently have SMART Boards in our K5 through 5th grade classrooms. In addition, we have two additional SMART Boards in our middle school. Each year we will continue to equip additional classrooms.
StandardsScore (formerly WebGrader)
StandardsScore is an online grading system utilized by all teachers at St. Boniface. Parents in 3rd through 8th grades are able to securely log on to an internet site to monitor their child's academic progress throughout the year; thereby allowing parents to assist their student in becoming independent with assignment due dates, managing their school homework, and assessing the potential need for additional assistance. The grading system lists each named assignment, quiz and test score; and denotes missing assignments. The current grade is calculated after each grade entered in each subject area. Grades are posted within 48 hours of completion.
Computer Lab
We provide our students with an up-to-date computer lab containing 29 PC-based desktop computers. While keyboarding skills are emphasized in all grades, students also learn how to use Microsoft Office® products. Students become proficient in Word®, Excel®, Powerpoint®, and Publisher®; these programs are used for many class projects. Students are also taught the basics of conducting internet research including the recognition of reliable sites and how to safely surf the web. Teachers also incorporate 21st century tools for specific projects which include how to create SMART Board applications.
Science Lab
The middle school science lab is located in the lower level of St. Boniface. It is equipped with science tables and sinks. 6th grade is taught a general science curriculum, the life science course is taught in 7th grade, and the 8th grade is taught a physics course. Along with lab-grade microscopes, balances and the necessary equipment needed to conduct labs and activities on a weekly basis, this room houses the equipment needed by primary and elementary school teachers.
Art Room
We are proud to offer students a dedicated art room and art teacher who offers a myriad of artistic techniques and mediums. The art room is complete with a pottery wheel, all tools needed for clay working and a kiln. There is a real enthusiasm for art throughout the grades which is evident in the quality art work they are encouraged to produce. Students have time and opportunity to develop their artistic skills and to enjoy creating expressions of their emotions, ideas and dreams. Learning many processes and styles of art is an integral part of our art program which prepares them for high school. Our students have won numerous art contests sponsored by other schools and various community organizations.
Outdoor Classroom
LEARN (Loving Earth And Respecting Nature) is a special area on the northwest corner of the school grounds established 15 years ago with native trees, shrubs and wildflowers. LEARN has a weather station, bird houses and feeders, a compost pile, a pond, and benches to be used for many curriculum areas. It is fondly referred to as St. Boniface's "outdoor classroom."
Library
Our library comprises almost 7000 separate titles that are computer cataloged. Books range from Picture Books, Early Reader, Fiction, Non-Fiction, Magazines, Special Reference and titles from our own school authors. The library room contains work tables for studying and group work, as well as a comfortbale rug for students to sit upon while listening to a story. New books are added weekly to the library.
Boniface Hall: Gymnasium, Auditorium and Church
Boniface Hall is a muti-functional facility that fulfills a myriad of needs for the parish and school. As a gymnasium it is used for physical education class and a venue for a full range of competitive athletic programs. Boniface Hall is also an aditorium which accommodates the needs of our Chrismas concert, spring concert, family dances and occasional musical productions by the St. Boniface middle school students.
