Children's Liturgy of the Word!
Sept. 30, Oct. 28, Jan. 27, Feb. 24, March 24 and April 28
Children come to church with their families as usual and are taken out with a leader for the Liturgy of the Word. The first reading and the Gospel are adapted for kids (no second reading). They also sing a psalm response and a Gospel Acclamation composed just for them. There is a discussion homily in which the children participate. A simple creed and Prayers of the Faithful are also included. They get a sheet to take home, and are back in church by the time of the collection. It is not a Sunday school lesson, but liturgy for children. It is geared for kids in K5-5th grade. Younger children are welcome with a parent. It’s a win-win situation for all. The kids get a better understanding of the Scripture readings at their level, and parents can focus on the readings and homily in church.
