Athletic Association
The St. Boniface Athletic Association is a parish-based program open to students in 5th through 8th grade. We promote an enjoyable Christian environment that helps develop physical skills while fostering sportsmanship, respect and personal responsibility. The program consists of three sports for both boys and girls: volleyball (fall), basketball (winter), and track and field (spring). Cheerleading is an additional activity. The successfulness of our athletic program is best evidenced by the fact that 90% of St. Boniface School students participate in these sports annually. Strong evidence!
Scouting Programs
Scouting programs are open to girls starting in K5 with the Daisy Scout program and run through 8th grade Cadettes. Boys can become involved in Cub Scouts in 1st grade with the Tiger Cubs and continue through 8th grade.
Youth Choir
The St. Boniface Youth Choir is made up of students in 4th through 8th grade. Practices are held after school and performances are at school liturgies, occasional weekend masses, as well as engagements at St. John’s Cathedral and Gesu Church on the Marquette University campus. The choir has recorded five popular CDs.
Nature Protection Agency (NPA)
The Nature Protection Agency, also know as the Environmental Club, is a group of 3rd through 8th graders who meet once a month after school. The group works together to learn about nature, improve our outdoor classroom, and promote environmental awareness at our school.
Destination Imagination
DI is an international creative problem solving program for students from K5 through college. 1st and 2nd graders (aka Rising Stars) meet and play problem-solving games to develop their skills. Students in 3rd through 8th grade work in teams up to seven students to solve a problem involving writing, story-telling, acting, and prop building. In spring, the DI teams compete at a regional competition. At least one St. Boniface team has advanced to state competition since 2003. In 2005 and 2008, St. Boniface had a team advance to compete against 1,000 chosen teams at Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 2008, the team won one of only two “Spirit of DI” awards at Global Finals for an exemplary solution to the challenge. Each year our teams continue to shine with the most current achievement, a 2nd place trophy in 2011 for one of our elementary teams.
Forensics
Forensics is a way for students to develop their public speaking and critical thinking skills with opportunities to compete against all other middle school students in the State of Wisconsin in local tournaments and state competition. Forensics is open for students in 6th through 8th grade. St. Boniface graduates, who participated in forensics, have gone on to successfully compete in forensics at the high school level. Our students have received awards at every level including the state finals. The most recent is in 2011 where the St. Boniface team placed 3rd overall at state competion in Division 2. We had 13 students medal including 2 - 1st place, 4 - 2nd place, and 1 - 3rd place finish. There were 80 schools and 1299 students at the state completion.
Music Lessons and Band Program
All students in 3rd through 8th grade are invited to enroll in instrumental music lessons provided at school by All Saints Music Education. Learning to play a musical instrument can provide a lifelong skill building confidence, increasing concentration, and enhancing social development and self esteem. Students in 3rd through 8th grade are eligible to begin piano/keyboard lessons. Students in 4th through 8th grade are eligible to begin band instrument (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and drums) and guitar lessons. Each student receives a specialized 30 minute group or 20 minute individual lesson once per week. Lessons are held at school and scheduled during the school day. For more information, please contact Mr. Corey Klunk, program director, at (414) 463-2020.
