The St. Boniface 7th grade boys basketball team took first place in their 2018-19 Don Bosco league. Not only did we win our league this season, but we also brought home the first place trophy from the St. Leonard’s tournament. The team, after a long, hard season, has come out victorious with a league record of 11-1 and a tournament record of 5-4. Our year started off with a bang winning six straight league games in the B league. We then entered the Holy Angels A tournament in West Bend. We ended up fourth with a record of 1-2. Our team proceeded to win their next league game, which put us at a record of 7-0 before entering the St. Leonard’s tournament in Muskego. In the St. Leonard’s Tournament, the team went 4-0 winning the championship for the second year in a row.
We continued our league winning streak, winning another two league games before entering the St. Killian’s tournament, which we had won the previous two years. The boys and I ended up getting third in the tournament with a record of 2-2. We fought hard but just came up short. After the St. Killian’s tournament, the team went on and won our next league game before the season ended with a thud. Unfortunately, we did not win our last league game and lost a heartbreaker to St. Agnes. Here is what Nick H., a player on the team, had to say about the loss: “The loss was an unfortunate end to the season, but we tried our best and fought hard.” Even though we ended the season with a league loss, all the boys and I are fired up to have a great 8th grade season.
