The Emotional Field Trip by Izabella Grossi

Have you ever been on a field trip where people cried? Well, I have. This year the 5th through 8th graders went to see Les Miserables (Les Mis) in November. The play was produced at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School (DSHA).  Each grade was chaperoned by their homeroom teacher. All the students attending the field trip got onto a bus and went to DSHA high school. The students then got off the bus and went into the auditorium. We watched the production and went back to school.

I choose to write about the trip to see Les Mis because I enjoyed it. I enjoy history, dramas, and the performing arts, and Les Mis includes all of those things! The 5th through 8th graders got to learn about some history and got to enjoy it as well. The musical Les Mis is, to put it simply, an emotional rollercoaster. Joy, sadness, despair, pity, and the wanting of change are all felt in the production. The girl sitting next to me cried! We have been to many productions performed by DSHA and with collaboration with Marquette High School students. They were all great!

Interesting article Bella. I have to wonder if the "girl next to you" was Izzi :). Sounds like it was a good show. Thanks for sharing.
